Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised (Proverbs 31:30).
Being in the skin care industry there is a big emphasis on aging. Companies make promises to stop it, to delay it, and prevent it with all the latest ingredients and techniques.
We can outwardly improve on the effects of aging, with all kinds of lotions, creams, gadgets, and skin care treatments. Eating a healthy diet definitely puts things in our favor but what does God say about this subject?
The older you get, the more I want you to know everything God says in how you should live out your life according to His plan. Believing that there is no age limit in what He can accomplish through a life that is willing to step out into new dreams no matter how scary or unqualified you may feel.
How do you embrace aging with more excitement, not dread, and trusting God that He still has a plan to help you fulfill your dreams?
Pray for more wisdom. You want to become wiser in dealing with different situations you will face. God says if you will pray for more wisdom he will supply it. (James 1:5)
You have learned a lot about life and you truly have more wisdom than you think.
Time has put you through some hard times that you would never want to repeat…..but the lessons that you learned were markers on your life and they are worthy to be shared when you see someone going through similar situations. You can offer hope to someone else with your wisdom from living a life that has been tested through fiery trials. You have shown it is possible to come through those difficult times with a renewed strength, joy and a faith that is more deeply rooted in Christ.
Become a prayer warrior!
With aging comes wisdom and a deeper prayer life. You can be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to prayer! Stand in the gap for others, storm the heavens with your prayers for others, yourself, and this world. With age, your prayers need to be more frequent, be more intense, and trusting that God will answer. Praying is powerful and effective!
Don’t stop dreaming!
Do you believe that God still has things for you to accomplish through Him? Those big dreams that you only dare tell yourself but feel foolish putting a voice to? The Holy Spirit will continue to stir within you the desires that God has put in your heart for your life. Some of those dreams will require a new level of faith and a renewed commitment to pray more consistently. If you are honest you may just let it be a dream and nothing more, because it seems too impossible to become a reality. Especially if you think you are too old or it’s too late. Here’s the good news….
That’s exactly the kind of dream God loves to accomplish! What seems impossible to you, is possible with God!
I continually ask God in my own life to remove any selfish desires in my heart that would make it about me and to replace it with His plan for my life. Things I may not have even thought about that He would have me do or accomplish. Then I ask Him to turn up the intensity of these desires so there’s no doubt they are from Him. Try praying this for your life….you may be surprised with the direction the Holy Spirit takes your heart! God is faithful in answering!
I love that Moses was 80 years old when God gave him his big assignment! No age limit with God! This should give you tremendous hope and maybe even scare you a little! God defies the odds with age! Moses felt totally inadequate and made a lot of excuses to His calling. God listened and gave Him His personal help instead (Exodus 4:12).
We can be like Moses, can’t we? Find every excuse in the world to squash God’s plans for us because well…its too hard…I’m too old…I wouldn’t know where to start. Surrender it to God! All He wants is a willing heart that will at least try. He will show up and provide the help!
Have an eternal perspective.
God has a lot of things for you to accomplish while you are here on this earth if we will believe and trust Him…. but the truth is you are only passing through this life. This is not your home. The more you know about Christ and realize how much he loves you, your heart will long for His presence and your heavenly home. Your grip will loosen on the things of this world because it really is temporary. Only eternity is forever. In the meantime leave your mark on this world!
The world can judge us by appearance, age, finances, education etc. I feel as women we can be caught in the middle of life with feeling young in our minds and spirits, but the calendar says something different. We still have lots of dreams and hopes, but in reality, maybe we’re getting closer every day to retirement age. There seems to be a huge gap in where we fit in. Where is our place to make a difference? By the world’s standards, we don’t have much to offer.
BUT GOD…He knows you and sees your heart. God has plans for you no matter your age! He knows that you can be impactful to those around you and in the world. Do you believe it?
Be willing, be available, and say “Yes Lord”, and watch Him work in your life! If you are scared, do it being afraid and trusting Him every second for it!
The next time you look in the mirror, see a woman who is aging well, becoming wiser, who has so much to offer, who can accomplish her heart’s desires, and most importantly, see a person who is so very loved by God.
Until next time,
