Soul neglect.
We do it without even realizing it, and before we know it we’re starving.
You wouldn’t go days or weeks without food or water for your physical needs, so why do we neglect our souls from the food it needs to thrive?
It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stuff, and all the stress that you feel. Attention to your soul doesn’t make the list.
What if you paused and nurtured your innermost being with life-changing words. Words that can encourage and strengthen you, and help you to believe that “it’s going to be alright”.
I have learned when I neglect this area of my life nothing goes well and my anxiety increases.
I don’t want to just get through the days and exist. I want to thrive and flourish no matter what life is throwing my way.
I think you do too. So how do you get there?
It starts with a relationship for your soul
To have a relationship with anyone, you have to spend time with that person. It takes intentionality, thought, and action.
When was the last time you quieted yourself in prayer, or just sat before God and poured your heart out? Has it been way too long since you opened a Bible?
If it’s been longer than you would like to admit, don’t feel guilty. Today, or tomorrow you can start!
Just take a little step forward. Have a plan, even if it’s a little plan. Today tell yourself, today is the day. No more excuses.
Just talk to God. He is always waiting for you.
Tell Him how you are feeling, that you want to grow in your faith… you want to trust Him more for your future…that you want to think differently…for your words to be more grace-filled…that anxiety won’t rule you…fears won’t overtake you.
Then read God’s Word and let your soul come alive again. Let the breath of His truth revive you again and give you renewed hope. Just a few sentences can be powerful for reviving you.
If inward you feel dry and parched, little joy, no hope it’s time to give your soul some attention.
Prayer and God’s Word are what your soul needs. You can start today.
Make time for your inner self and day by day you will change and you will have soul health. Joy will find its way back to you.
All because you gave your soul some tender loving care.
Until next time,
