I blinked and it was fall!
Seriously, how did it arrive so quickly?! I’m not quite ready for the cooler weather yet! Fall is my favorite season, but I want to hold off a little longer before I embrace it!
With fall, subtle changes start to take place. From the clothes we wear to the way we cook, it changes. Are you ready?
Let’s get a little ahead of all that will soon change and be prepared for this beautiful season!!
Skincare
Your skin is smart. It will tell you when it needs something different. With the evenings starting to get a little cooler, and gosh forbid we have to turn the heat on a day or two, your skin will feel the effects. So this is the time to start tweaking your skincare routine. Don’t wait until your skin is dry and rough and depleted of moisture. Start now and keep your glow going.
- Cleanser. This is usually the first place to make a change. Using something a little more creamy and hydrating will keep your skin soft and moist for the months to come.
- Toner. Make sure it is more for hydration and not deep cleansing.
- Serums. Hyaluronic Acid will be your best friend. It’s a thin light serum that you can apply right after the toner. Its a moisture magnet for water and will keep your skin cells plump and hydrated at a deeper level.
- Corrective Serum. (Optional) You can apply this right on top of the hyaluronic acid. This corrective serum can be for wrinkles, pigmentation, aging, etc. Wherever you want to see change, this is when you apply this product.
- Moisturizer. Hydrating, preferably with an SPF. There are a lot of good ones that are affordable that do a good job of hydrating and protecting your skin at the same time.
Make-up
Bronzer. I use a bronzer all year long. In the fall and winter, it’s a lighter colored one. Bronzer can be just enough to give you a healthy little glow without looking fake. I use a powdered bronzer and its the last thing I put on when I wear makeup.
Body Skin
Exfoliate at least once a week. It will help your skin to stay soft and keep the scaly flakes away!
Tea
I’m a tea lover and love it even more in the cold weather. Green tea and teas with turmeric are powerful for your health. Get in the habit of having a couple of cups a day to get all the benefits of all those powerful antioxidants and strengthen your immune system at the same time.
Essential Oils
I burn essential oils every day in my house. With the cooler weather coming, I have started burning more autumn scents with cinnamon and citrus notes. It gets you in the mood for all things pumpkin! As it gets colder out though, I will start burning oils for germ-fighting to keep my home germ free! If you don’t use essential oils, now would be a great time to experiment!
Veggies
Up your veggie intake to stay super healthy! Smoothies, soups, snacks, get them in and reap all the benefits for cancer and disease protection.
Vitamins
Vitamin C is great to take all year long, but especially when the weather starts to change. It helps with allergies and can shorten the duration of colds. Get at least 500mg daily. It doesn’t build up in your system, and your body will use what it needs to keep you well.
Hope this list gives you some ideas to get ready to make some changes this fall! It’s so beautiful with all the colors and even the chill in the air feels good! Let your eyes and soul take it all in and enjoy these next couple of months to the fullest being hydrated, well, and glowing!
Until next time,
