“Planted” has been my word for 2 years. I’ve done a lot of reflecting and studying this word to get to the depth of what it means for my soul.
What do you think of when you hear the word planted? Something taking root? Growing? Flourishing? Yep, all of those words describe what we can be if we become planted women in our faith walk.
We really are all planted in some way. In our families, in relationships, in our jobs, but what about spiritually? Are the roots shallow, or are they going deeper and becoming stronger?
That’s what I want for you. To have unshakable deep roots, and bear amazing fruit for God’s kingdom. Growing, and trusting for a renewed purpose for your future.
I have found a lot of hope and guidance in several powerful scripture verses, that tells how we can be a planted woman of God, and then what He promises for our lives.
I know you don’t want to stay stuck. You’re ready for a change in your heart, where hope can breakthrough once again.
Let’s get planted and grow!
Jeremiah 17: 7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water, that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green.. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
I love this verse so much! It’s full of hope for growth and fruit-bearing! Let’s break it down and see how we get there.
Trust and Confidence
It starts right in the 1st line. Blessings come from trusting and putting our confidence in the Lord. If you have put your faith in God, and have the future hope for eternity, then you have put your trust and confidence in Him.
What happens though when the world shakes you, nothing goes right, and the future feels hopeless? Start by choosing to say, “Lord I put my trust and confidence in you, despite what I see or how I feel.” Sometimes you just have to go back to the beginning to when you first trusted Him with your life. Have you done that? Don’t wait another day. Ask for renewed faith.
You can trust Him with your today and the here and now, and He will call you blessed because of it.
Planted by the water
Because of your trust and confidence in Him, you are going to be like a mighty tree planted by the water. By reading His Word, He is going to nourish you and grow you in your relationship with Him. Your roots of faith are going to go down deeper and take a firm hold. This is where your root system gets strengthed for the storms. As long as you keep your heart planted in His Word, you will rise mightly and strong when life tries to uproot you.
No fear
Fear will surely seek you out. The enemy knows exactly where to strike and let fear try to take root again. But God says you will have no fear when things heat up in your life. He says your leaves will always be green, meaning your life is hopeful. That where there is hope, fear has to flee.
No worries in a year of drought
We are having a spiritual drought this year, aren’t we? 2020 seems to be dying of hope on some days. God is saying though we can still bear fruit in drought time. When circumstances feel hopeless, stressed, and life wrung out of it, we can not give in to worry.
Staying in His word and prayer, the fruit will abound. You can be the one to bring hope to those around you, to your family, friends, all because you chose to stay planted.
Ladies, these are hard days that call for digging deeper to stay planted in what you believe in. If fear and worries have gotten the best of you, get back into God’s Word, and spend some time in prayer. Let your heart be watered, and your soul revived, so you can continue to have hope and to be able to offer hope to others.
It all starts with trust.
With your future, your family, for today, for the next hour. If your trust is shaky, pray for more of it. Ask God for your confidence to be in Him first. Not in yourself. Not in what you can control. Ask for renewed trust, that despite what you see and hear in the news you won’t let fear or worry overcome you.
And just watch what happens. Your thoughts will turn back to the one who holds you in His hand, and confidence will push out all those other feelings.
Because he can be trusted. Every day and always.
So get those faith roots nourished and get planted in His word. And be amazed by how you grow!
Psalm 1:3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.
Until next time, stay deeply planted
