Could daily 5 minute habits make a difference in your health and your overall wellness?
YES! Adding in daily habits or whenever you can during the week will significantly impact every area of your life.
Easy habits from head to toe that you can start today! Over time you will find yourself utilizing those 5-minute slots of time in your day and creating a routine.
Sometimes we overthink things and forget how easy some things are.
I have learned that making changes doesn’t always have to be big chunks of time. Little habits daily, or when I can work them in, have helped me accomplish my goals.
Ready to get the most out of 5 extra minutes? Here’s a list to get you started!
HAIRCARE IN 5 MINUTES
Hair Mask. While in the shower, after you shampoo your hair, apply a hair mask to deep condition. 5 minutes you can have softer, shinier, and strengthened hair. I do this weekly, sometimes twice a week. It makes a huge difference!
Head Massage. Did you know that releasing tension in your head relaxes your face? You can use a little oil, but you don’t have to. Use slightly firm pressure, get your hands in your hair, and massage your scalp. You will feel better and relieve a lot of stress in your head area.
SKINCARE IN 5 MINUTES
Face Mask. Multi-task with this one! Sometimes I put this on in the shower to get it done. Once or twice a week, put on a facial mask to hydrate, and correct your skin. Applying a face mask is often a neglected part of skincare. Start today and see the difference 5 minutes can make!
Guasha. A power-packed 5-minutes! Get your guasha tool and lift and tone your facial muscles. Skin will look healthy from the increased circulation also. This practice delivers immediate results.
Dermaroller. Another powerhouse 5-minute treatment! Use the needle roller diagonally, vertically, and horizontally on every section of your face and your increasing collagen in the process. The next day your skin looks more toned and firmed and just overall amazing!
Exfoliate. Once or twice a week, remove those dead skin cells. Your products will work better, lines and wrinkles are diminished, and you will get your glow back!
Peel. Up your level of skincare and apply a peel. In 5-minutes, your skin is left radiant, glowing, and ageless!
BODY
Dry Brush. You can move your whole lymphatic system, detox your body in 5-minutes by dry brushing. Before a shower, dry brush your body and you are on your way to a healthier you.
Exfoliate. Doing a body scrub will remove those dried-out skin cells and make your lotions do a better job. Body skin is more healthy, and any dark spots will lighten up.
Stretch. Work out a tight neck or stiff back by doing a couple of stretches, especially if you have been sitting for too long. 5-minutes of stretching can work wonders on tight areas of your body. Work this in, and your body will thank you!
Vagus Nerve Exercise. This is a great exercise to do. I like Sukie Baxter on youtube for this practice. Literally in 5-minutes, you feel more grounded, peaceful, and the health benefits are endless. Try this!
Exercise Your Arms. This doesn’t replace a good workout program, but an extra 5-minutes focused on the arms every day for a week or two can bring tremendous change. When this area looks toned, it’s motivating to keep moving!
Green Tea. Take the 5-minutes to enjoy a cup of health. I do this every day and look forward to it every morning!
MIND
Brain. Do a 5-minute game on an app that challenges your brain! Keep those neurons regenerating and create new ones!
Close Your Eyes And Breathe. Stop, sit and close your eyes and breathe. It’s calming and refreshes the mind and soul. Doing this every day can relieve stress, bring health to your body and help you sleep better. Start today with this 5-minute habit.
SPIRIT
Say A Prayer. Worry less and pray more. When your thoughts are spiraling, stop and say a prayer. When someone or a situation is on your mind, stop and pray. This has a way of shifting things in your heart and can change the course of your day.
Read A Devotional. 5-minutes of reading a passage of scripture and applying it to your life can impact your day in profound ways. Start your day hearing from God and make it a good day.
Journal. Sometimes it just helps to get stuff inside of you down on paper. This practice can be soul cleansing and will lighten your spirit.
ORGANIZATION IN 5 MINUTES
Vitamins. I take specific vitamins every day, but I don’t like opening multiple jars. I have little containers where I make one or two weeks’ worth of vitamins. It only takes a few minutes and keeps me on track. I throw a container in my purse if I’m out for the day and never have to think about missing my nutritional support.
To-Do List. The night before, plan for your next day or the week. This has been a lifesaver for me. Just preplanning can keep you more productive and organized, and you will be surprised at how much more you can get accomplished.
In The Kitchen
Meal Prep. I like to cook, but I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen—the night before, I usually know what I’m going to make the next day for dinner. I measure out spices, chop what I can, and put them in separate containers. It might take a little longer than 5 minutes, but not too much extra time. My meal comes together quickly with less mess and stress the next day.
Breakfast. Plan it. Have the fruits together and ready in the fridge if it’s a smoothie. Oatmeal? Have it measured out. Preplanning your morning will start your day off with energy and fuel!
Add-Ins. I like to add specific nutrients like turmeric, collagen, cinnamon, flax, etc. to smoothies. I measure a week’s worth in little separate containers like my vitamins. When I want my smoothie, I don’t have to think about my add-ins and spend the time measuring it all out. It makes making a smoothie quick and easy.
Life can be busy. Take 5-minutes to create space in your day and have less stress. Hopefully, these suggestions will become habits that become a regular part of your routine for every area of your life!
Until next time,
