Dry brushing has been around a long time, but not often done at home. It’s quick, easy, feels great and the benefits are amazing for your health and your body skin!
We talked about body scrubs in a previous post and all the benefits you can get with a weekly scrub. Now let’s dive in and talk about this simple technique of dry brushing and how you can start getting results today!
What does it really do?
It will whisk away all those dead skin cells, gently moves the lymph in your lymphatic system, stimulates your immune system, gets your circulation moving, and makes your skin feel like a baby’s bottom.
One of the big bonuses: it helps to reduce cellulite on the body! Who doesn’t want that?!
What do you use and what’s the technique?
Get yourself a long or short handled bristle brush. They are inexpensive and you can find them in many stores.
The best time to start is right before you get into the shower. On dry skin. The brush is dry as well. Use a light hand in pressure. The lymph moves gently under the skin, so harsh brushing is not what you want to do. You can turn a little pink because you are getting the circulation going in your skin. It’s all good!
Start at your feet and work your way up your body with little gentle circles and upward strokes moving towards the heart. First the front of the body and then the whole backside. Circles and strokes. Give extra attention to those areas of cellulite!
What are the benefits?
In this simple technique, you have loosened up all those dead skin cells that cling to your body and leave your body skin dry, itchy, and dull.
Anytime you are stimulating the lymphatic system you are helping with detoxing and you are strengthening your immune system which always affects your health in a positive way. You are doing both of those things with this easy technique.
What about those cellulite areas? Cellulite are fat deposits under the skin. When you are increasing circulation, coupled with moving the lymph by dry brushing, things are going to start to happen. Once you start dry brushing on a regular basis, you are going to see some pretty amazing changes in those cellulite areas.
Your skin is going to be super smooth and all those little bumps here and there should decrease as well. Put on some body lotion after your shower and you are good to go!
How often do you need to dry brush?
Every day if you can, but if you can’t get it in daily, anytime you can will still be worthwhile! It should only take a couple of minutes! That’s a lot of benefit for a short amount of time!
Hope this makes you a little curious about this easy technique! Give it a try and start brushing!
Until next time,
