Balance.
Does it seem like your always chasing after it? What does it really look like anyway?
The word alone though can make you feel stressed! Making you feel like your always falling short.
There are times when I have experienced the word balance, but there have been a lot of times when my life feels very “out of balance”.
Busyness will get you out of balance real fast! It’s almost like a trophy women wear by how busy they are. It makes us feel like superwoman! The more busy we are getting things done, the more productive and in control we are right?
Yes and no. Getting things done is necessary a lot of the time. Life runs smoother when the errands are done, meals are prepped, laundry is done, etc, etc. Busyness though can be a joy stealer and life zapper if you’re not careful.
It’s when there is no time for you… no self care…no soul care… things are starting to get out of balance.
How do we find this magical word in our life? The world tells us we won’t be whole until we have it. That is so not true.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve discovered that the best way to have more balance in my life, is to let a lot of stuff go. Kind of crazy when you think about it! Practicing more relinquishing than striving, beautifully brings more balance.
It’s time to get off the treadmill of running after something that is always out of arms reach. You have more control than you think when it comes to having more peace and balance in your life. Let’s see what that looks like for you.
Balance is temporary. Freedom is in the letting go and being flexible.
Do you love lists? The more the better right?! Not always. Lists have more power than you realize. When those items aren’t crossed off, it can affect your moods and steal your peace. Every day that list stares back at you and the pressure starts to build. How can you feel balanced when the checkmarks on your list tell you that you have failed in some way?
I will always be a list girl, but I no longer let it have power over my life. When things don’t get done I “roll it over”! It will get done when it gets done! That wasn’t always easy for me to say, but feeling calmer has made it worth it!
As women, we can beat ourselves up when juggling all the plates in the air, and some start to fall. Our self worth starts to be about our accomplishments. If only we would be kind to ourselves and let it go.
Remember, your still a good mom, good wife, good person even if you don’t get it all done today.
Another way to have more balance is in being flexible when life takes a U-turn. This can take so much pressure off of you! The more you practice it, the lighter you will feel in your spirit. It’s really amazing! Just allowing yourself some freedom to “go with the flow” can release a lot of frustration.
What you can miss when your chasing balance
Don’t hold so tight to a schedule, a list, an agenda, and miss life. Like every day little gifts. There’s so much astounding beauty right outside of our doors, that we can never see it if we’re running at breakneck speed trying to find balance.
You can miss moments with your children because you’re more about “doing” than “being.”
Balance is a good thing, but your not a failure if you don’t have it all of the time. Instead, think of having a lifestyle that wants more of God in your life than items crossed off of a list. When you go after that?? Your life will take on a whole different meaning with balance.
What do you do when life feels unbalanced?
- Say a prayer. Asking for Gods help brings you inner peace
- Be flexible. Life changes by the hour some days. Be ok with it and see where it takes you
- Let it go. Release the grip of “have to get it done”. Remember to say a prayer.
- Your list staring at you? Break it down in smaller bites on multiple days. It will eventually get done!
- Missed your work out? It’s OK! Start tomorrow!
- Can’t remember the last time you read your Bible or prayed? God is always there waiting for you. He’s never leaving.
- Lost your patience with hubby or kids because you feel “out of balance”? An apology goes a long way and is good for your soul.
- House a mess? One item at a time picked up, and little moments of follow-through add up to a calmer home.
- Practice some self-care. A hot bath makes any day better! Apply a facial mask and get your glow back!
- Use some essential oils in your home and apply them on your skin and let them work their magic!
No more chasing the word balance like your life and happiness depends on it. Be kind to yourself. You’re important also. Instead, give yourself grace, and a lot of it. Tomorrow is a new day!
Until next time,
