Have you heard of Gaba? Is it for you? Let’s talk about it and see if GABA is something you can benefit from.
Are you experiencing this?
Racing mind. Are you having trouble calming your mind down, especially at night? Is your mind chatter keeping you from having a good night’s sleep?
Anxiety. Are you struggling with anxiety, and feel anxious most of the time? You’re edgy and jumpy? Do your insides just feel stressed?
Moodiness? Are your moods all over the place, and people tell you that you are “moody”?
Insomnia? Because of the racing mind? Is it just hard to shut off the thoughts racing through your mind at night?
If you’re saying yes, Gaba may be what your brain needs.
What is GABA?
It’s a naturally occurring amino acid that works as a neurotransmitter in your brain. It can inhibit certain brain signals which work directly on your nervous system. Think of it as “brakes” in your brain. Calming down all the racing signals that are disrupting your sleep and causing you to be anxious.
Can your get GABA from food?
Not a whole lot. Gaba is not naturally occurring in food. Some fermented foods contain GABA, but if that’s not a big part of your diet, you probably aren’t getting much, if any GABA.
Any side effects?
If you take medications, it’s always a good idea to tell your doctor if you’re taking something new. It may lower blood pressure some, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re already on blood pressure medicine.
How should you take GABA?
I take it about an hour before bed. It can be taken during the day if you are having a really stressful day also.
How much should you take?
I always start with the lowest dose when I’m trying something new just to see how I feel. 250-500mg is a good range. You can take the recommended dose, or increase it to get optimal results. Here’s a brand of GABA that I take and love.
If you have tried to calm your mind down and relax before bed, and aren’t having any luck, GABA could really help.
Give it a try and start sleeping again with a quieter mind. You have a lot to accomplish and getting a good night’s sleep is what will help you to do it!
Until next time, sleep well,
