Can lymph drainage make you look younger and feel better? It turns out it can.
Getting your lymph moving will bring health to every area of your body, and you will even notice your facial skin looking more revitalized.
Stubborn areas of puffiness on parts of the body and the face can all be lymph-related. When the lymph is stuck and backed up, you will feel it and see it. What can you do?
Some quick Science first.
Think of the lymph as your major waste dumper. It takes cellular waste and toxins and helps to eliminate all that through sweat, urine, and bowels.
So you can see why having this system working well is essential.
The lymph system has a lot of moving parts. Vessels, lymphocytes, and those lymph nodes that we are all familiar with when they get swollen. Thymus, spleen, bone marrow.
So let’s get started and bring some wellness and anti-aging into your life!
Are you experiencing any of these things?
These are a few of the most common issues you can be experiencing if your lymph is not moving correctly.
- Headaches
- Brain Fog
- Low energy
- You have lots of mucous in the mornings
- Sore and stiff, especially after sleeping
- Hands falling asleep in the middle of the night
- Constipation
- Hard to lose weight
If you can relate to any of these, then it’s time to get moving!
Ok, here’s where we begin.
Breathe!
The lymph system doesn’t have a pump like the heart, but just by breathing, you are stimulating the lymph. Most people are shallow breathers which directly affects the lymph system. Learn to breathe from your diaphragm for 5-10 breaths a couple of times a day. Try the 3-4-5 breathing routine. Inhale for 3 breaths, hold for 4 breaths, then exhale for 5 breaths. The results are astounding!
Keep Yourself Hydrated
When you are dehydrated, the lymph fluid gets thicker and doesn’t flow well. Room temperature or even hot water is best to get things moving again. Sip throughout the day, and don’t let yourself get thirsty.
Your Clothing
Ditch underwire bras! They are terrible for your lymph system and can even cause swelling in your lymph nodes. Look for something comfy that doesn’t restrict any areas around your chest.
How You Eat Affects Your Lymph
Processed foods, sugar, and all that bad stuff cause your lymph to become stagnant. Eating healthier has a positive effect on your whole well-being.
Dry Brush Your Body
Dry brushing is so easy, and the results are amazing! I have talked about dry brushing in other posts because I believe in it so much. 5 minutes or less a day or every other day can bring some quick changes to your body internally and externally.
Your face receives all the benefits also. I aim to do this every other day, and if I miss it for a couple of days, I feel it. Twinges and body stiffness starts to show up, and dark circles or puffiness can appear under my eyes.
I get back on track quickly because it works, and I can see and feel the difference. If you have any of those issues, get a brush for your body and make this a new habit.
Before a shower or bath, brush the skin with long strokes towards the heart. That’s it—3 to 5 strokes. Lightly is the key because lymph is superficial. It moves lightly under the skin, so light pressure is all you need.
Lymph Drainage For Your Face
Once you get into the habit of this, you will love it. Not only does it feel amazing, but you can see the difference. Skin becomes brighter, and I swear it looks more lifted and toned! I don’t do this every day, but definitely a few times a week.
Put oil on the skin or cream and for 5-10 minutes, get your lymph moving. Use your hands or a guasha tool, and you’re ready to get glowing again!
Rebound For Overall Lymph Health
Getting on a mini rebounder is the best thing you can do for your lymphatic system. 3-5 minutes to start is all you have to do. With bare feet, get on a rebounder and gently bounce up and down without your toes leaving the rebounder. Your heels are the only thing moving. This gentle movement affects all of your lymph and is getting you unstuck. If you don’t have a rebounder, you can do the movement standing in place.
A large rubber ball works well also. Please do not overdo it! Doing too much, you could get dizzy or feel nauseous. This is where less is better.
Yoga
Your lymph system loves when you stretch and especially yoga. Practice mindfulness yoga a few times a week to move things gently.
Move Your Lymph And Tone Your Muscles
Giving your lymph some attention is going to do that. When your body system is healthy, your body changes and your muscles will look more toned. Stubborn cellulite areas become smoother. Areas of cellulite will smooth out as well. Most of the time, that dimpled skin is stuck lymph and fascia. Get that moving and the skin changes.
If this all sounds too good to be true, I get it. It’s so simple! Try it for a month and see for yourself and be amazed! Your body skin will change, your face will change, and you will have fewer aches and pains—you’re strengthening your immune system which, helps you fight off disease and brings back overall health in the process.
I hope you work some of these suggestions into your routines and experience the power and the healing of moving lymph!
Until Next time,
