Being grateful…..
It’s so easy to forget…. and to go through our days without seeing the blessings. Life gets busy and sometimes life gets hard. All the more reason we need to stop…. pause…. and remember.
I want you to have eyes to see your days and the people in your life in a new way. To have a heart full of gratitude for all the goodness that God has poured out on you. Every single day.
When was the last time you told the Lord thank you?
Our days can be a whirlwind of “to do lists,” busyness and sometimes just too many time stealers: social media, phone scrolling, tv, etc. If we never stop during our day to remember that grace was poured out on us from the moment we opened our eyes in the morning, our heart will never get the message to be grateful.
I think most of us think we are grateful people, but we probably could all take that to another level. Myself included.
Spending some quiet time before the Lord asking Him to show you areas in your heart where there is selfishness or ungratefulness can be quite revealing! As much as that hurts, we need to see it.
You want your heart to be right with God, and that starts with recognizing areas that need His transforming power.
There are those seasons in life though when feeling grateful is really hard because life has dealt you some hard blows. This is where your faith can be stretched. Choosing to be grateful during hardships will mature you in your faith walk, and be healing to your soul as well.
My sister gave all of us girls in my family a little Gratitude Journal, so we could all be more mindful in this area. It was such a great gift and makes me stop and think about what I’m grateful for every day. Sometimes just putting pen to paper has a way of helping the heart to remember. Try this practice daily and jot a few things down to remind yourself how God was there for you during your day. You will be surprised with all the blessings that come to mind!
You can keep it really simple….you can start by saying, “Thank you Lord for today. Give me eyes to see your blessings in my life.”
That’s a heart full of gratitude and it will ultimately change your life. The more you practice being grateful you will find yourself being more content and more at peace. Your heart will become more tender and your life will start to flow with gratitude.
That’s the life we were meant to live friends. Start today to look at your life as a life full of blessings and to acknowledge the one who is the giver of good gifts to you.
(Psalm 106:1) Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.
With a grateful heart,
