Is your body skin dry? Mine is all year long, but as soon as the weather gets colder my skin gets even drier
I have a routine that I stick to that has made the biggest difference in the health and appearance of my body skin.
Let’s talk about tools and hydration that can help you to banish your dry skin this winter!
Here’s where to start for more hydrated body skin:
Dry Brushing Your Body
If you haven’t tried it, please do! It’s quick, easy, feels great, and is so powerful for changes in your skin. The main thing it does is stimulates your lymph system. This is like your internal garbage dumper. Dry brushing gets things moving with stagnant stuck lymph. That’s going to result in increased circulation and less dimpled cellulite. Your skin will also look like it has come alive again! You will be amazed at how your skin changes with regular dry brushing!
Let’s not forget the mild exfoliation that you also get in the process which is always great!
So the first thing is to purchase a small handheld body brush. Amazon, TJMaxx, and Target have quite a good selection.
- Before you shower or bathe start brushing with light to medium pressure with long strokes starting on the bottom of the feet and then moving to the tops of your feet.
- Stroke up the legs with long strokes from front and back and stopping at the thighs. Make sure you get behind the knees. This is a major lymph point. Do both legs.
- You’re always going to be dry brushing towards the heart.
- Brush upwards from the hip to the lower back. This is your sacrum area and it needs some TLC.
- On your stomach, you can brush with short soft strokes, and also some counter-clockwise circles which will help with digestion.
- Move to your palms and up your arms front and back. Don’t forget your armpits, this is another important lymph area. For the breast, area brush outwards in all directions.
- Gently brush downwards from the chin, jawline to the neck towards the heart. Do the back of the neck from the hairline down.
Your skin should now feel invigorated and have a nice rosy glow!
How long did this all take? About 5 minutes! It’s that easy! Ok, what’s next?
Body Scrub
I love body scrubs! Using one regularly will dramatically change your skin. How often? Once a week is ideal.
I like to first cleanse with a loofah washcloth before my scrub. Dead skin cells can be like glue on the skin, and this really helps to loosen everything up.
Apply your scrub on damp skin afterward and scrub with loofah gloves or a brush and get that circulation moving! You might become a little pink which is a good thing! Blood flow is increasing which is healthy for your body.
Moisturize With Lotion Or Oil
Do not skip this! From the neck down apply lotion or an oil or a few drops of oil in your lotion. I love jojoba because it’s the most closely related to the oils in our own bodies, but there are a lot of great oils to choose from at the stores. Stay away from anything that has “fragrance” in it. You want a lotion or oil that is good for your body and not filled with hormone-disrupting ingredients.
Starting with a good body skincare routine can really transform your skin and improve your health at the same time. Try it today and see if your skin doesn’t become softer, firmer, and radiates health! Do this all year long, and you will be amazed at the changes.
Until next time,
