Power Up Your Nightime Skincare

Are you treating your skin with the same products you use in the morning?  Have you been using the same skincare products for years?

So much happens in your skin at night that it’s a perfect time to power up your skincare regimen and get incredible new results.

If I skip taking a few extra minutes in the evening, night after night, I see a change in my skin—and not for the better. So, I make my evening skincare a priority to keep results ongoing.

It doesn’t have to be complicated, just consistent.  I even write my evening skincare plan down to switch things up and ensure I’m targeting aging at different levels.

Let’s discuss some of the things you’re probably already doing and introduce some new things into your evening skincare routine so that you can see the amazing results in the morning.

  • Double Cleanse. It’s a must, especially if you have makeup on and SPF. I like to use a rinsable oil or balm for this step. Apply to the eyes and face and massage in to get your pores nice and clean. This is also a hydrating step, not a skin-stripping step. Remove your eye makeup with damp cotton pads, and then use a warm washcloth or makeup remover cloth to remove the rest of the oil from your skin. Now, continue with a regular cleansing.  Something nice and hydrating.  You’re ready for the next step.

Power It Up!

  • Facial Tools. Here is the power! I use a variety of tools that I alternate to get different results. You can use a couple of these on different evenings and change it up every couple of weeks. An example might be to do micro-current three times a week and LED two times a week, or LED three times a week and Dermaroller twice a week. I factor in a night or two where I concentrate on hydration and correcting also.
  • Micro-Current.  Great for retraining the facial muscles to be lifted and firmer.
  • LED Light. Healing and correcting. The red wavelength light targets all aspects of aging, from wrinkles to age spots. An LED handheld or an LED Mask will quickly power up your results!Evening skincare
  • Dermaroller ( Needling). This also helps kick-start collagen, which gives your skin a tighter, lifted look. It is also great for product penetration. 0.25 is a great place to start.  You can eventually go up to a 0.75 roller for even bigger results.
  • Facial Reflexology or Facial Massage. Facial Reflexology can be done with an acupressure tool. Amazon has a good selection. There are some outstanding books with facial guides to address health concerns while doing a reflexology treatment on your face.  That’s pretty amazing!  If nothing else, massage your facial skin.  You have muscles in your face that get lazy! Wake them up with a nice facial massage. You will be amazed at how alive your skin will look and feel.

You can easily find these types of tools online. Amazon has quite a good selection, and beauty stores like Ulta now have a great selection as well.

Power Up Your Products

  • Serums.  These are your power in a bottle. They will correct and bring the glow back to your skin.
  • Retinol Type of Product.  A must.  At least 3 times a week, to change the texture of your skin, correct superficial lines, and make you glow.  I’m currently using a retinol alternative cream and loving the results without harshness.
  • Moisturizer.  Go a little heavier at night.  Your skin will love all the extra hydration!
  • Facial Oil. You can apply it right on top of your moisturizer. I love facial oils twice a day, so I never skip this step.
  • Eye Cream. The one I use during the day has an SPF, but at night, I use something more corrective for dark circles or wrinkles.

This may sound like a lot, but honestly, it takes no time at all. Even if you only power up your evening routine a few times a week, you will see some new results. Just cleansing, moisturizing, and going to bed isn’t a bad thing but it is basic. If you’re looking in the mirror and telling yourself you have to do something about your skin, power up your evening routine. You will be so happy with the results that you will see just by taking a few extra minutes in the evening!
