It’s been said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. There’s a lot of spiritual truth to that.
How do you look at yourself….at others….at circumstances in your life?
Seeing through spiritual eyes will change the way you see everything, but what does that look like in real life?
The apostle Paul was on the road to Damascus when he was blinded by a light and heard God’s voice. After being blind for three days, the scales fell off of his eyes, and he saw clearly for the first time in his life. From that point on he was unstoppable in taking the gospel to the world. (Acts 9:3-19)
Sometimes it happens like that. There is a radical revelation and you see clearly the condition of your heart and the sin in your life, and you become a different person instantaneously. Sometimes though, it’s a very slow process….or you continue to live your life blindly and never experience all that God wants for your life.
Here’s the question….do we want to see?
Do you want God to hold up the mirror to your heart and let you see it through His eyes? All the insecurities, the fears, the pride, the criticism, the downright ugly? It takes a heart that really wants to change.
As scary as that sounds to see yourself honestly, I truly think you want to have your eyes opened….I think you want a renewed relationship with God that is filled with more peace, and more joy. To stop slipping back into old destructive habits and finally having victory in those areas of struggle.
When you look at others through the eyes of the world, you can easily get caught up in judgments and assumptions and blow things out of context in your mind. You can judge a person’s thoughts, their actions, their words and have no real basis for any of it.
You can tell yourselves lies daily without even realizing it. Destructive self-talk grieves your soul. This is not the way we are supposed to live or meant to live according to God’s Word.
The enemy wants to keep you blind. He wants your life void of all happiness. Making you believe you are living a defeated life with constant stress and turmoil. He wants you as far away from God as he can get you. Because he knows, if you see clearly, you will let God change you and direct your life, and you will be a powerful woman to deal with. So the enemy of your soul works hard to keep your blinders on.
How do you see with spiritual eyes?
Start with prayer. Ask God to show you the condition of your heart. Be prepared, because He will answer you! He wants to work in your heart and change you. He will show you your sin and move your heart to repentness. Layer by layer, God will heal your hurts and show you tender mercy. Your vision will become more clear as the eyes of your heart will begin to open.
Get into Gods word. Daily if you can. Start with just a verse or two and let God shed light on how He sees you and the life He wants for you. Ask Him to see the people in your life, your family and the world through His eyes. Let Him stir your heart to see bigger visions for your life, your dreams, your family and to believe that He has a plan and a purpose for you.
Asking to see who you really are can be really hard, but it can bring freedom and renewed hope for your life.
Having a relationship with God requires seeing….seeing yourself and seeing Him. Tell Him today you are done with being blinded to yourself and you want your eyes opened.
He is ready to catch the scales as they fall from your eyes.
Until next time
