You hear a lot of words daily. Saturating your mind and hearts with truth or lies.
Who do you listen to and how does that affect you spiritually?
Social media likes to tell your mind that your not measuring up. That you are lacking in so many areas of your life. Marriage, beauty, relationships, vacations, fitness. You name it, there is an opinion out there ready to give you doubts about yourself.
There may be people in your life that have never built you up with their words, but their main job seems to be tearing you down. Before you know it you have taken on a new identity covered in lies.
You might have friends that give you bad advice and even though in your head you know it is wrong to listen to bad counsel, you do anyway. Day by day all these words pushing you to think a certain way, and in the process, the Holy Spirit’s voice gets a little more quiet to your ears and heart.
I want you to desire to have more wisdom when it comes to listening. When you feel that prompting in your spirit to stop what you are reading, or hearing words that are not good for your soul…. that you will obey and seek out the one whose voice your heart knows.
As I have gotten older and dare to step into new and bigger God sized dreams, the enemy has worked overtime to try to get me to listen to his lies. Some days its been a fierce battle. Shooting arrows of words like, “You are too old, you’re not smart enough, you will make a fool of yourself,” have pierced my soul. Days like that I literally have to put myself into God’s word and stay there until His truth speaks life back into my battered heart.
God holds all the wisdom and knowledge for your life. ( Colossians 2:3 ) Through His word He will with talk to you, instruct you, warn you and remind you that He loves you. He will expose lies and replace it with His truth that is secure and steadfast.
The more you seek God for direction for your life, the louder His voice gets and the dimmer the world’s voice becomes.
The world will tell you that you’re not satisfied. Gods word tells us we have everything we need in Him. ( 2 Peter 1:3 ) The world will tell you that you aren’t that important. God tells us we are heirs with Him and co-heirs of Christ. ( Romans 8:17 ) The world says you are done, you’re useless. God says I have a plan for you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. ( Jeremiah 29:11 )
Who’s voice are you going to listen to?
Have ears to hear the words of your Savior and what He says about your life. Once those truths settle into your heart you not only become wiser but will be unstoppable for all He wants to do through you.
Praying that you hear His voice above all others that would vie for your attention. If you don’t know His voice yet, I pray that you will start to hear the calling of the One who loves you. God wants to be invited into your life so have ears to hear!
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” ( Isaiah 30:21 )
Until next time,
