I thought summer would never get here!
Winter has stretched on forever here in the Midwest! Throw in a winter vortex with sub-zero temperatures, and you can see why I am so ready for the sun and hot weather!
There is just something healing about the sunshine, isn’t it? I always say, “I don’t care how cold it is, just give me the sun”! It just makes me happy!
There’s science to prove it also! Nature provides all that skin-loving, healing Vitamin D to bring health to our bodies naturally. No wonder we feel better when we’re out in the sun! Summer is a great time to soak it all in and get those D numbers up!
Let’s enjoy every second of this summer, and get outside more! Here are some things to do when the temperatures go up!
Summer fun!
- Bike ride. Let your mind get relaxed on a nice long bike ride, burning calories all at the same time! By yourself or with someone, biking is a great way to de-stress.
- Walk, Walk, Walk. Summer is the best for this! You can really take notice of your surroundings. Your senses become so much heightened when your walking and you’re really looking to see what’s around you. Go by yourself so you can do some deep thinking, or go with someone else and walk and talk the miles away!
- Pray. Being outside with nature makes you really aware of creation and all the beauty it offers us each day. Pray for people, pray for yourself and whatever is on your heart. Surrounded by the sky and trees makes it a sacred time.
- Read. I love to read outside! Something about reading a book in the warm weather feels cozy to me. Have books on a list you want to read? Summer is a great time to knock them out! You just may sneak in a power nap also!
- Lattes! Oh, how I love you! I’m a hot drink person, but as soon as the temperatures go up, my internal voice says, or maybe screams LATTE! Nothing tastes so good on a hot day! It’s such a nice satisfying treat! I wait all year to have this little indulgence in the summer! It’s probably good I live in a cold place! HaHa!
- Look at the stars. When was the last time you did that? The great thing is you can walk out your door and go in your yard, or on your porch. Look upward and be amazed. Doing this is good for your soul. It reminds us how great God is and the gift he gave us with His creation.
- Self-tan. Summertime means golden skin. Everything looks better when you’re a little sun-kissed! Self-tanners have come a long way! No smell and more natural ingredients can give you a healthy summer glow in a few hours!
Share your time with others
- Be intentional with family and friends. It’s easy to fill up the days with kids, errands, etc, and forget others that are important to us. Do a little planning. Get some dates on the calendar, and get together with friends and family. Picnics, barbeques or just to hang out. Summer is such a fun time to be with others outside!
These are just a few things to think about this summer. Make plans, rest, read, star gaze and make this the best summer ever!
Until next time,
