I love fall time and all the changes that take place during this season. Boots, warm socks, hot tea, lattes, and pumpkins are just a few things I love about this time of year.
Even the way I cook changes somewhat. More warm foods like hearty soups and chilis for the cooler days ahead.
Also, you may need to start tweaking your skin care routine during fall. A different cleanser and moisturizer is always the first place to start. Something a little more hydrating to protect against the changing temperature. We will be talking more about that in a future post!!
It’s also a time though when a subtle shift starts to take place internally. As nature prepares to get settled for change and rest, you can also.
The holidays will be around the corner with all the frenzy and stress that they can bring if you let it. Until then, you can take some time to prepare ourselves for the months ahead and have a well of peace to draw from in the meantime.
Changes this fall
Seeing the leaves change color is a beautiful sight. You can take a cue and see if there are some areas that maybe you can change in your life this season. Is stress taking its toll on you? Before the days ahead get too hectic, maybe make a conscious effort to quiet yourself for a few minutes a day. Do nothing but rest your mind and soul. 10 minutes of quieting your mind daily has been shown to bring strength and healing to every organ internally.
Commit to one little change this fall with your body. Maybe it’s getting back to exercising? Some yoga to destress maybe. Cooking more healthy? Praying instead of worrying? Don’t wait until January to make a commitment. Make changes now as nature changes along with you.
As the leaves fall, it can remind you to let go of some stuff. What has been holding you back from experiencing more peace? Fear, insecurities, anger, anxiety? Surrender it to God this season. Let Him carry the load for you and remind you that He is in control of it all. Free yourself and experience more peace.
Putting some practices into place during fall will equip you for the holiday season ahead and you don’t have to lose your peace in the process. Here is where you can start.
Changes for your body and soul this fall
- Drink more warm beverages. More healing teas for your body, and treat yourself to a latte just because it’s the season!
- Make some healthier meals this fall. Soups, chilis, and casseroles. Warm up your insides!
- Get your body moving! Take walks outside and look at the beauty around you.
- Go to a yoga class or even just do some moves at home and de-stress.
- Let some things go… and pray about them more.
- Rest your mind. Commit to turning it all off for 10 minutes a day. Even 5 minutes will give you great health benefits!
Fall is such a short season depending on where you live. Here in Chicago, it goes by in a blink! Let’s not miss it because we are too busy always trying to get the next thing done. Stop and look around and notice all the changes before they are gone.
To get you in the fall mood, here is my favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte that you can make at home. I make it all the time and it is super yummy! Enjoy!
Pumpkin Spice Latte:
- 1 cup coconut milk (Almond milk works well also)
- 1/4 cup brewed coffee (You can freeze the leftover coffee in cubes for future frappes)
- 2 TBL pumpkin (option: I don’t always use pumpkin. It’s great with or without!)
- 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 TBL maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped topping such as a non-dairy coconut whip or Truwhip
Brew your coffee. I use a k-pod in my Keurig. Freeze the leftovers or refrigerate for a cold brew coffee. Heat your milk on the stove. Pour the milk into a favorite cup. Put in the other ingredients at this point and then add the coffee. Stir and top with your whipped topping. Enjoy! I think I will go make one right now!
Hope you enjoy every day of this beautiful Fall season. As you see the changes around you, may you start your own path of change as well.
Until next time
