We all know we should eat more veggies, and if we truly understood how powerful they are to our health, we would be loading up our plates with these superstars!
Age-defying, cancer and disease fighting, stronger immune system, healthier brains, vitality, and the list goes on for all the benefits that veggies can provide.
With summer months we have an abundance of fresh vegetables. With winter there is still some good options to keep ourselves healthy and our immune systems strong by making some good choices with produce.
Let’s talk about how important it is to eat veggies every day. It’s going to be easier than you think. Once you get in the habit of eating or drinking your veggies, you are going to experience some amazing results with your health and your skin this season!
Variety is the key
We can get stuck pretty easily with making or consuming the same vegetables day after day, week after week. It gets boring and we don’t think much about it. We go to the grocery store and buy the same produce over and over again. This is the section of the store we need to spend the most time in with loading up our cart with lots of fresh produce. Buying veggies seasonally is also a great way to introduce a variety all year long.
Ready to get on a path to better health? Here is where you begin.
Start thinking every day when it comes to veggies
Incorporate vegetables into your meals every day if you can. You can start with breakfast by juicing or making a smoothie. Throw in those greens and you are off to a great start! You will have energy all morning long! No more sugar crashes! If you’re having eggs, you can add some spinach or peppers or both to get you started!
Try to have a salad every day. Increasing your veggies this way will help in elimination because of the fiber. You are fueling your body with foods that can cut your disease and cancer risks dramatically!
Have a variety of veggies in the fridge that need to be used up? Roast them! Put them on a cookie sheet with some olive oil, and a little sea salt and you will have some tasty sides for dinner. It’s also a great way to clean out the fridge and let nothing go to waste!
Don’t forget frozen veggies also! Look for organic and stock up when they are on sale. Cook and add some spices, olive oil, or whatever you love to help you eat more of them. Super quick and easy!
Now, what if you’re not a veggie lover? Keep trying different ones and you might be surprised and find a new love! In the meantime, there are some good green powders that you can purchase! Put a scoop into a smoothie or you can put into a glass of water. They also have some flavored greens, which might be a good choice. Some are better than others. It’s a great option to still get health benefits!
Before I travel, I buy packets of green powders to make it easy to get my greens in when my eating can get out of whack with traveling.
Also, drinking your veggies in a smoothie helps you to get in all the nutrition in a yummy way! The fruits you add will cover up the green taste, so enjoy!
Remember the rainbow
The more vegetable colors you eat the more variety you get in powerful phytonutrients. These compounds support heart health, fight cancer cells, reduce inflammation, and reverse brain aging. More colors, more optimal health benefits!
Ever hear that saying that food is medicine? It’s so true. You have these powerful choices in foods that can transform your health. Plus they taste great! Start today, by choosing more veggies. You are going to feel better, age better and have more energy every day to do the things you love…all because you made good choices!
The next time you go to the grocery store, load your cart up with the rainbow!
Until next time,
