Did you know your thoughts can have a big effect on your health?
Positive or negative, the words you think about influence every area of your life.
Everyday words are entering your mind and shaping how you think and feel. Opinions of others, social media, the news, they are all having their say. It can really impact your health and your overall wellness if you aren’t guarding your mind.
Ever get a thought stuck in your head that wants to go around the same circle over and over again? I have, and it’s not a good place to be in.
When physical symptoms started to show up in my life such as increased anxiety, I knew I had to have some strong barriers of protection for my thought life.
Not guarding your thoughts can be a dangerous place.
God warned us about not giving the enemy a foothold in our life for a good reason. As soon as he sees a weak area, he is all about attack and destroy. If he can take control of your thoughts, he can control your life. It can be a rapid downward spiral from there.
The good news is you are in control! You have a say in how you think! If you’re going after better health, a positive outlook, and a whole lot more peace, there are some changes you have to make with the way you think.
First, let’s see how negative thoughts are affecting your health.
- Sleep. Overthinking, over analyzing can affect your sleep big time! Sleep is so important for your quality of life, brain health, and longevity. Is what your thinking about at night robbing you of a good night’s sleep?
- Anxiety. Letting others’ opinions affect who you are as a person, or make you feel “less than” will increase your anxiety and keep you on edge. Also worrying about things that may never happen or that aren’t in your control.
- Digestion. Our stomachs hold onto a lot of emotions. Ever feel like your stomach is in knots? When you listen to bad news all the time, lies from social media, or negativity, it can directly affect your digestion with bouts of diarrhea and constipation, and overall gut problems.
- Headaches. Ever feel like your head is in a vice? Yes, your thoughts can make you have increased headaches.
- Stress. I can definitely relate to this one! What you think about affects every organ in your body, and so does stress. That’s how powerful words are.
Time to make some changes with your thoughts and have better health!
- Start with your phone. If there are triggers on your phone that you definitely know tightens your stomach and makes you feel bad about yourself, it’s time to say goodbye. Take back the control! Put your phone in a drawer if you have to. You can even reward yourself by not looking at those sites that aren’t good for your soul after a certain timeframe. You will be surprised at how much better you will feel by getting rid of the phone triggers.
- Negative people. Do you have them in your life? When I’m around negativity for too long, I literally feel zapped of energy. I try to turn the conversation back to positive, but if that doesn’t work, I just have to remove myself if I can. I would suggest you do the same. Don’t let others negativity put thoughts into your mind and change the way you think and feel.
- Social media. I have had to unfollow quite a few people this year. Hatred, racism is rampant on the internet, and I want no part of it. It’s not good for your spirit or soul. Be done with that kind of poison once and for all. Your health will thank you for it.
- Have a heart of gratitude. Sometimes you have to acknowledge your blessings. They are there, but sometimes you have to verbalize it so your mind can hear it. Try it every day for a week. Jot down or just say out loud what you’re grateful for. This can totally change the way you feel.
Have a go-to for truth
For me, that’s God’s Word, and what I know is true. Scripture has a way of grounding me and speaks truth to my heart. Find some scripture verses that speak to you personally and memorize them. Does fear have a grip on you? God has something to say about that. Read His Word and let your heart and mind be changed.
You can take a stand today!
No more letting others’ opinions or negativity change your thoughts and give you doubts about yourself. You have amazing qualities, and don’t let anyone make you think differently!
Headaches can be eliminated, your stomach can be calm, restful sleep can be yours just by making some changes in the way you process your thoughts. Ready for those changes?
Say no to the phone, walk away from the negative people, let God transform your thoughts, count your blessings and be ready for your health to change!
You can do it and it’s so worth it. You’re worth it! Have more peace, better overall health, just by controlling your thoughts! Today would be a great day to start!
