How often do you pray?
It’s probably more than you think.
In 1 Thessalonians, it says, “Pray without ceasing”. That sounds a little intimidating and even unrealistic in today’s age.
Or is it?
Ever offer up a quick prayer of “Lord help me”? “Please protect.” “I need your guidance”, “Be with me in this”, and so many other prayers that are offered in a quick second, shooting your prayer heavenward, praying for a quick answer or assurance and peace.
These are prayers that you are praying. All through the day, in different times and situations, you’re asking for God’s intervention.
A lot of women feel guilty because they feel like they aren’t praying enough. They say they need to have more quiet time with the Lord, and these times need to have a certain amount of time for prayer, or it doesn’t count.
That is just not true. Sure, discipline is a good thing with Bible reading and praying, and it grows us spiritually, and I think we should plan those times to make sure they happen. Sitting longer in God’s presence gives us time to not only pray but also to listen. Hearing what God wants to speak into us can stretch us, calm us, and give us hope.
But everyday life and busyness are a reality, and those quick prayers you’re praying are lifelines.
It shows that God is on your mind. He is who you turn to in the quick moment of need.
So pray without ceasing? You’re probably already doing it, and didn’t even know it. And it’s beautiful, mindful, and God loves every spoken word from you to Him.
So keep shooting up those quick prayers to the one you’re placing your hope in, in your times of need. All through the day and all through the night, keep offering up your prayers in a spoken word, in a hushed moment, in a hurry, and in the busy.
You’re praying, and it’s all “without ceasing”, and you can rest in that.
Until next time,
